DAVE UNWIN
Dave Unwin has been flying since 1985 and has over 5,000 hours in more than 300 different types, ranging from antique gliders and vintage biplanes to modern turboprops and jet fighters, via WW2 bombers and fighters and including sailplanes, seaplanes and skiplanes. He has an FAI Silver C, BGA ‘B’ category instructor rating and a CPL for single engine land, single engine sea and multi-engine land planes, and is instrument rated for all three categories. He currently owns a Jodel D9 Bebe and is an instructor and the Tug Master at the Buckminster GC.
Formerly the Editor of Today’s Pilot magazine, he is the Editor of GASCo Flight Safety magazine, and Flight Test Editor for Pilot magazine.
He has written for many other publications, including Microlight Flying, FlyPast, Air International, Aviation News, Airliner World, Wingspan, Flyer, Sailplane & Gliding, Avion Revue, Przglad Lotniczy, Aviao Revue, SA Flyer, Avion y Piloto, Air Forces Monthly, Powered Sport Flying, Soaring International, Klassiker der Lufthart Australian Aviation, Plane & Pilot, Flying China, Sunday Times, Financial Times, Maxim, Aero Kurier and many others.
He has also edited several ‘Farnborough official souvenir programs’, and regularly appears on the Emmy-nominated TV show Disasters Engineered.
